The CAN based Electronic Dashboard system is a substitute to the existing mechanical dash boards used in locomotives. The Electronic Dashboard displays the vehicle diagnostics on a colour graphic TFT display as human interpretable graphics. The unit compliments its usability on various vehicles.
The unit reads data from CAN network through which the electronic measuring units are networked. Electronic Dash implements SAE J1939 standard protocol to communicate with other units on a vehicle. The Electronic Dash board uses powerful and cost effective ARM 7 family processor which embeds CAN protocol engine to connect to CAN network.
